The Harsh Reality of Nigeria's Political and Judicial Systems
As Nigerians, it’s essential that we acknowledge the stark truth about our country. Nigeria is not a nation in the classical sense, but rather a company owned and controlled by a select few. This oligarchy has a stranglehold on our political and judicial systems, rendering them ineffective and corrupt.
The Political Landscape in Nigeria
The political landscape in Nigeria is akin to a zoo, where only the strongest and most cunning survive. The judiciary, which should be the bastion of justice and fairness, has been compromised, making it foolish to place any faith in its ability to deliver impartial verdicts. The armed forces, which should be the defenders of our nation, are also embroiled in this web of corruption and godfatherism.
Rule of Law
It’s a sad reality that from the Chief Judge to the IGP, Army Chief of Staff, Senate President, Governors, and even Local Government Chairmen, none of these individuals have attained their positions through merit. Instead, they owe their allegiance to the powerful godfathers who have installed them in office.

The rule of law in Nigeria is nothing more than a tool used to oppress the poor and vulnerable, while the elite and powerful operate above the law. The notion that we can achieve change through the ballot box is a pipe dream, as the system is rigged against the ordinary citizen.
Revolution
The only viable options for Nigeria’s salvation are either division or revolution. The foolish optimism that the 2027 presidential election will bring about change is laughable, given the events that transpired in the 2023 election. It’s clear that we are stuck in a vicious cycle of corruption and oppression.
The continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (MNK) is a testament to the government’s desperation to silence dissenting voices. His only crime is speaking truth to power, and for that, he has been imprisoned. The government’s inability to buy his silence has led to his continued detention, a clear indication of their fear of his message.

Power Tussle
Furthermore, the recent power tussle between Wike and Fubara has exposed the depth of corruption and abuse of power in our political system. President Tinubu’s decision to sack an elected Governor, while leaving a troublesome Minister in office, is a clear indication of the arbitrary nature of power in Nigeria.
While some may applaud this move because it favors their interests or doesn’t affect them directly, we must prepare for the worst in the nearest future. The consequences of such actions can be far-reaching and devastating, further entrenching the culture of impunity and corruption that has plagued our nation for so long.”
